"Tucson" is Ch. Hoka-Hey's Mesquite, and he is Tama's
litter brother – from the Joey and Cheyenne breeding. At 8 weeks of
age, Tucson went to live in Michigan, and we have worshipped him from afar ever since!
According to his owner, Tucson is the sweetest, most loveable hunk of a dog, and
that's not at all surprising if you know his brother, Tama. Tucson won
multiple breeds from the classes on the short trip to his championship,
and won group placements his one and only weekend out as a special. We're
very proud of this beautiful red boy! He has also proven his standard of
excellence as a producer with multiple champions.
Tucson - OFA Excellent
In 2003, Tucson’s
mother, Cheyenne, was diagnosed with VKH, an auto
immune disease not uncommon in Akitas. On February 26th, 2003, our beloved girl lost her battle. She was 9 years old. There
are no words to express the deep sorrow and emptiness we feel, or the pain
that will be in our hearts forever. No
dog deserves to suffer and die the way she did, but especially not Cheyenne – the loving, sweet dog that wanted only to make us happy. Cheyenne was bred only twice, and years
before her diagnosis, but we opted not to continue breeding with any of her
daughters or sons, since the mode of inheritance of this disease is unknown.
