When Shawnee first arrived from Tylin
Akitas, it was just like having her daddy, Patton, here again; she was the
spitting image of him at 8 weeks, and you couldn’t tell the
difference in photos. Patton very strongly resembles his mother, Ramona, so
we really latched onto Shawnee. Even
without the touching resemblances though, Shawnee is something very special. Long before Pat
Hastings rated her best puppy in her litter of seven, Shawnee had caught
our eye as everything we want in a puppy; square and solid, beautiful front
and rear, irresistible head, eyes, lovely coat and markings, and a
daredevil attitude! We can’t fault her! On a personal note, she reminds me so
much of my Matchi that it’s a very emotional relationship. Shawnee even chooses the same places to sleep and hang
out. The other dogs love her too, and she’s grown up believing the
world belongs to her! So far no one
has been able to tell her otherwise – including the judges, as Shawnee stormed the show rings. She won her first two
shows, then picked up a Reserve and apparently decided she liked the points
better! This ‘teenager’
then won three days out of four on a late April circuit, including a BOW major!
This was only her third weekend out. We’re bursting with pride
over this lovely girl, and the most common comment about her is how happy
she is, and how much she loves to show, which warms our hearts. Now Shawnee is a Best Of Breed winner, and she finished her
championship in style with a 4 point major, winning over 17 bitches! Not only did this athletic girl grow up
sweet, sound and healthy, but she is truly beautiful as well – a
‘real’ champion.
Shawnee has loved and
cared for every puppy she’s ever come in contact with, and now she has her own! Shawnee was bred to our incredible Ch.
Scout and is totally devoted to
her beautiful new babies.

Shawnee’s registered name comes
from the story of Tecumseh, the most famous Shawnee leader, and perhaps one
of the most notable leaders of all time. Tecumseh was strong, confident and
brilliant, and he had a plan to bring all the Indian nations together to
defend their land, their heritage, their dignity, their independence - and
their lives. He was successful in bringing warring tribes and lifelong
enemies together for a common goal; something that had never been done in
the history of the various Indian nations. He was revered by all, including
the British, who attempted to ally with him.
