”CH.
BROOK-STATEN’S KOSHARE of HOKA-HEY”
This is our Ch. Brook-Staten's Koshare of Hoka-Hey, much more
affectionately known as "Joey" and a major contributor to the
high quality of our dogs! Bred by Herbert Mercer (in his one and only
foray into the breeding arena!), Joey is the double great grandson of
Multiple Best In Show and Best In Specialty Show, Ch. Hot's
Mo's Barnaby Jones ROM,
and bears a striking resemblance! Joey is the same rich brown brindle
pinto with a gorgeous head! Joey also has perfect eyes and ears, wide
cheeks always open with a smile, and a soft, loving way about him. Joey has
been more than we could ever have dreamed of as far as a producer.
Bred to Matchi, he sired Raven and
Hanta Yo, and bred to Sealy, he got her ROM with such beautiful
girls as Scarlet, Cherokee, Kiowa, Siren, etc. Joey has more
kids finishing every year and some of his nicest were out of our Cheyenne in 1997; Champions
'Tama' and 'Tucson', both multiple breed winners from the classes, made a
big impact on the show scene in 1999. Tama went on to become a multiple
Best In Show winner in Europe and voted
the "Top Show Dog Of The Year" - al breeds - in 2000. Even
Joey's grandkids, like Comanche and Ochoco, are building their own legacies,
but they owe it to Joey.
Joey turned twelve in 2000; he was never at public stud but sired eight
champions bred to our three girls alone. He also has a daughter
needing only one point to finish. We were incredibly lucky to get him and
have been thankful every day since. He's been such a treasure - a
kind and loving companion and gentleman, a great show dog and one of the
best, most consistent producers around. If Joey wasn't ours, we'd do
whatever necessary to make sure we got one of his babies! Luckily he is
ours, and we have several!
