Ch.
Hoka-Hey’s Wild And Strong is our “Comanche”. He finished his championship so young
that all his show photos picture a very immature boy! Even so,
his second major was a Best Of Breed win in Califor-nia, over top west
coast specials. Comanche is a Scarlet son, but very different in many
ways. He's tall, slightly narrow and a beautiful
red-gold pinto like his dad. He has a huge head with exquisite
black, trian-gular eyes, big broad cheeks, beautiful short broad muzzle...
he is also very short-backed with a beautiful tail set, and he loves everyone!
Comanche is a wonderful house dog and friend; loving, obedient, but silly
and lots of fun. His hips have been rated Excellent by WSU and Good by OFA,
and he was CERFd annually until neutered, but probably his most notable
contribution has been the puppies he sired for us. His first litter was an
inbreeding back to his mother, Scarlet, and produced our oh-so-lovely black
brindle "Ramona" (Hoka-Hey's Spice Girl). His second litter was out of
our wonderful Cherokee, a very tight linebreeding on his mother’s
side. From that breeding came our perfect boy, CH. Hoka-Hey's
Thunder Over The Ochoco.
Comanche himself has been a dream in
every way – we couldn’t have asked for more. Sadly, he was
neutered in 2001 when a littermate was diagnosed with SA, a horrible and
hereditary auto-immune disease.
There was another undiagnosed immune-related problem in his litter,
and he himself has sired some undocumented immune conditions. Fortunately Comanche continues to be
vibrantly healthy, and happy, and will always be our much-loved companion.
